Goals

1. Students will be able to classify animals into their correct taxonomy based on physical, behavioral, and reproductive characteristics.

2. Students will be able to identify the seven major classification groups.

3. Students will be able to create a mind map using Bubbl.us.

 

 

 

 

 

Learning Objectives

 

Learning Objective 1: Working in teams and using the Bubble.us electronic mind mapping tool, students will build a mind map of at least 10 animals, including the 7 categories of classification, at least 1 characteristics of the class, order, family and genus. There will be at least 8 characteristics under Species.

 

Learning Objective 2: Given a computer and the internet, 8th grade students will conduct animal classification and taxonomy research on the internet on the various characteristics of the seven major taxon classifications and in groups of 5, will create a presentation of their mind maps to be presented to the class.
